Why Armor FX

Protection that holds together.

A UV filter is there to take the hit. Armor FX is built so the hit stops at the filter.

01 / 08

Cracks, not shatters

Each piece of glass is laminated like a car windshield, with an explosion-proof layer inside. Hit hard, it cracks but holds together, so no loose shards reach your front element.

Made for rough days

Designed to take heavy impacts and hammer blows. NiSi first built this explosion-proof design into its cinema filters in 2018.

Lifetime warranty in Australia

Buy your Armor FX from NiSi Filters Australia or an authorised Australian seller and it is covered for life. Break it, however it happens, and we send you a new one.

Twill brass frame

A two-tone brass frame with NiSi's twill knurling grips easily and threads on and off smoothly. No vignetting on wide angles, down to 14mm.

L395 UV cut

Absorbs ultraviolet light below 395nm to cut UV haze and the blue cast it adds, for clearer outdoor and high-altitude shots.

Nano coated both sides

Multi-layer low reflection coatings on both sides reduce glare and ghosting, and a water and oil repellent layer lets drops roll off and wipes clean.

Cinema glass, full sharpness

Cut from the same CINE optical glass as NiSi cinema filters and polished on both sides, so it keeps detail on high-resolution sensors.

A crack becomes an effect

If you ever do crack one, the irregular cracks throw a unique flare when the scene is side-lit or back-lit, so the filter gets a second life.

Tested

Impact: ordinary UV and Armor FX

After a strong impact, the ordinary UV filter breaks through and sheds glass. Armor FX cracks but stays in one piece.

Questions

Before you buy.

What does the lifetime warranty cover?

In Australia, Armor FX UV filters are covered for life against breakage. If yours breaks, however it happens, send a photo of the filter, a short note on what happened and your proof of purchase, and NiSi Filters Australia sends a replacement at no cost. It applies to the original purchaser, for filters bought from NiSi Filters Australia or an authorised Australian seller, and replacements ship to Australian addresses. Register your filter when you buy it on the registration page, and make a claim on the claims page.

What is not covered by the warranty?

Normal wear, scratches and cosmetic marks that do not affect the filter, damage from strong cleaning chemicals such as alcohol or isopropyl alcohol, and misuse or abuse. The filter needs to be broken to qualify for a replacement. See the warranty page and the full terms on the claims page.

Why not use an ordinary UV filter for protection?

Ordinary UV filters use plain or optical glass, which can shatter on a hard knock. Those fragments can scratch the front element and its coatings. Armor FX uses laminated glass that cracks but stays in one piece.

What happens if my Armor FX cracks?

It stays in one piece and keeps protecting the lens. The cracks also create a unique flare when the light comes from the side or behind, so you can keep shooting with it as an effects filter, and the lifetime warranty replaces it.

Will it vignette on a wide-angle lens?

No. The brass frame is slim enough for no vignetting on wide-angle lenses, including at 14mm.

Can I screw another filter on top?

Yes. Armor FX has a front filter thread, so you can add a polariser or ND filter of the same size on top.

Which size do I need?

Match your lens filter thread. It is printed on the front of the lens or inside the lens cap, next to the diameter symbol. Armor FX comes in 15 sizes from 39mm to 95mm.

What comes in the bundle?

An Armor FX PRO Nano L395 UV filter and a True Color Pro Nano CPL of the same size, with a hard protective storage case. Bundles are available from 40.5mm to 95mm.

How should I clean it?

Water drops roll off the nano coating and fingerprints wipe away easily. Avoid alcohol and other strong chemicals, which can damage the coating and are not covered by the warranty. See cleaning your filters.
