Close-up lens

Get closer with the 77mm close-up lens.

The Athena lenses share a 77mm filter thread (the 14mm has none), so the NiSi Close-Up Lens Kit NC 77mm II screws straight onto the front and shortens the focus distance for macro style shots.

Distances are approximate. With the close-up lens on, the lens only focuses between these two distances, so take it off for normal shooting.

The 14mm to 85mm share one size, similar weights and matched aperture and focus rings, so a gimbal needs no rebalancing between them. The 135mm is larger.

Before you buy.

Which mounts are the Athena lenses made in?

PL, E, RF, L and G Mount. E Mount comes with or without the drop-in filter slot, and G Mount comes without it. PL Mount lenses can also be adapted to other cameras with an Athena PL adapter.

What is the difference between drop-in and rear filters?

E, L and RF Mount lenses have a slot for drop-in filters. PL Mount lenses have no slot and take screw-in rear filters instead. The two filter types are not interchangeable.

Are the lenses matched for gimbal work?

The 14mm to 85mm share the same size, similar weights and matched aperture and focus rings, so you can swap them on a gimbal without rebalancing. The 135mm is larger and is not weight matched.

What filter thread do they take?

77mm on every lens except the 14mm, which has no filter thread.

Can I use the 14mm and 18mm on Fujifilm GFX?

Yes, in the G Mount version, using the camera in its 35mm format mode. The lenses cover a 46mm image circle, which is full frame.

Which Athena lenses work with the close-up lens?

Any Athena lens with a 77mm thread takes the NiSi Close-Up Lens Kit NC 77mm II. Focus ranges are listed for the 25mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm; see the Close-up lens panel above.

Can I try the lenses before buying?

Yes. Book a lens test at the NiSi Australia office in Thornleigh, Sydney and shoot the Athena primes on your own camera. Sessions are by appointment and subject to demo availability.
