T1.4 on every lens

All five focal lengths open to T1.4 and stop down to T22. An 11-blade iris keeps out-of-focus highlights smooth and round, with room to light scenes with practicals.

46mm image circle

Full-frame coverage that also works on Super 35. Standard PL mount for ARRI, RED, Sony VENICE and Blackmagic URSA bodies.

Framing holds on a pull

Virtually no focus breathing, so the composition stays put as focus moves. A 300° focus throw on a 0.8 MOD gear gives the focus puller room for precise marks.

Neutral colour, clean edges

Ultra-low dispersion elements keep colour fringing down, even wide open. Colour is neutral and accurate, with micro-contrast that holds shadow detail.

Markings you can read in the dark

Luminous paint on the focus and aperture scales. Focus scales ship in feet and can be swapped to metres with a tool, sold separately.

One size, one weight

Every lens is 90mm across the front, 110mm long and 1300g, with the focus and aperture rings in the same place. Swap focal lengths without rebalancing or moving the follow focus.

Rear filter holder

Every lens takes a filter behind the glass, for ND or diffusion on light rigs where a matte box is too much. The front has an 86mm filter thread.

AUREUS shares a similar optical character with ATHENA PRIME, so the two sets cut together on one production. Use AUREUS where you need the extra speed.

Questions

Before you shoot.

Which focal lengths are available?

Five: 18mm, 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm, all T1.4 and PL mount. Buy them one at a time, or as the five-lens kit with a hard case.

Will they cover a full-frame sensor?

Yes. The 46mm image circle covers full-frame sensors, and the lenses also work on Super 35.

How are they different from ATHENA PRIME?

AUREUS PRIME is faster: T1.4 on every lens, where most ATHENA PRIME lenses are T1.9. The two share a similar optical character, so they can be mixed on one production. AUREUS PRIME is PL mount only; ATHENA PRIME also comes in E, L, G and RF mounts.

Is there focus breathing?

Virtually none. Framing stays consistent through a focus pull, and the 300° focus throw gives fine control.

Will my matte box and filters fit?

Every lens has a 90mm front diameter and an 86mm filter thread, plus a rear filter holder. The 95-90mm clamp-on adaptor fits the NiSi C5 Matte Box and any 95mm clamp-on matte box.

Are all the lenses the same size?

Yes. Each is 90mm x 110mm and 1300g, with focus and aperture rings in matching positions, so lens changes do not mean rebalancing the rig.

Can I try them before I buy?

Yes. Book a lens test at our Thornleigh office in Sydney and shoot them on your own camera.
