Why NiSi close-up

A diopter is only as good as its glass.

Put an extra element in front of a good lens and it will show. These are built so that it does not.

Use the telephoto you already own

Telephoto lenses often cannot focus close enough to fill the frame with small detail. A close-up lens moves focus to a much shorter working distance while you keep the compression and the background blur the long lens gives you.

02 / 06

Apochromatic glass for clean, sharp detail

NiSi close-up lenses use an apochromatic optical design to help reduce fringing and keep detail crisp. Expect cleaner edges, better micro-contrast and more natural colour in close-up shots.

Multi-nano coating for contrast and flare control

Multi-nano coatings help reduce flare and ghosting, which matters most on the reflective subjects close-up work is full of: rings, water droplets and glossy surfaces. Contrast stays stronger and colours stay cleaner.

One close-up lens, several lenses

With the included adaptor rings, and the optional ones, a single NiSi close-up lens fits more than one lens in the bag. Carry one compact tool and be ready for detail shots at any point in the day.

Macro shots without carrying a macro lens

Built for real shoots. A wedding photographer can catch rings, shoes, florals and cake details in seconds, then take it off and keep shooting portraits. Lighter to carry and faster to use than a dedicated macro lens.

Screw on, get close, start shooting

There is no setup. Thread it on and shoot. Focus normally, then fine-tune by moving slightly forward or back within the working distance until the detail and the composition are where you want them.

Questions

Before you buy.

What are NiSi Close-Up Lenses?

NiSi Close-Up Lenses are screw-on optical diopters that reduce your lens's minimum focusing distance, allowing higher magnification and macro-style images without using a dedicated macro lens.

Which NiSi Close-Up Lens size should I choose?

Choose based on your lens's filter thread and your shooting style. 77mm is ideal for telephoto zooms, 58mm is a versatile all-round option, and 49mm is designed for compact setups and high magnification with select macro lenses.

What can I photograph with a close-up lens?

Close-up lenses are great for flowers, insects, textures, product details, food, jewellery and small objects. Any time you want to get closer and fill the frame with fine detail.

Will image quality stay sharp?

Yes. NiSi Close-Up Lenses use an apochromatic optical design and multi-nano coatings to help maintain sharp detail, clean colour and good contrast while minimising fringing and flare.

Do I need a macro lens to shoot macro?

Not always. A close-up lens is a fast, lightweight alternative for macro-style shots, ideal when you only need occasional close-ups and do not want to carry a dedicated macro lens.

What is a diopter, and what do +3, +5 and +9 mean?

A diopter is the strength of a close-up lens. Higher numbers mean higher magnification and a shorter working distance. The 77mm kit is a +3 for telephoto work at a comfortable distance, the 58mm kit a +5 for versatile close-ups, and the 49mm a +9 for the strongest magnification and select macro applications.

How do I focus when using a close-up lens?

Attach the close-up lens, move into the working distance, then focus normally. For precise results, make small forward and back movements to fine-tune focus, especially at high magnification.

Can I use NiSi Close-Up Lenses for video too?

Yes. Close-up lenses are a simple way to capture macro-style detail shots in video, perfect for product work, nature and B-roll, without changing lenses or adding complex rigging.

FAQs

What is a close up lens?

A close up camera lens filter is a type of lens filter designed to reduce the focus distance of the lens it's mounted on. This can help get a macro shot of small objects or in greater detail.

Why choose a close up camera lens filter?

If you’ve tried to take close up photos with a regular telephoto lens, you know how important it is to have a close up lens filter. By using this lens on a telephoto lens, you’ll have the ability to get very close to your subject. A close up lens filter is amazing for reducing focusing distance and creating high-quality macro images. So, if your work or hobby requires any type of close up photography, it’s crucial that you pick up one of our industry-leading close up lens filters.

Will a close up lens help with macro photography?

A 58mm close up lens will allow up to a 2:1 ratio when used with a Macro Lens, allowing you to get closer to your subject without blurring or significant quality distortion.
